Obermeyer Wood Virtual Event Series Recap: Amy Walter, National Editor of The Cook Political Report

On Thursday, July 16, we were honored to host national election expert Amy Walter for our monthly Virtual Event Series's latest installment.

With over 20 years of experience, Amy Walter has built a reputation as an accurate, objective, and insightful political analyst with unparalleled access to campaign insiders and decision-makers. Known as one of the best political journalists covering Washington, she is the former political director of ABC News. She is also a regular panelist on NBC's Meet the Press, Fox News' Sunday with Chris Wallace, and CBS' Face the Nation. She is also the host of WNYC's The Takeaway (Politics with Amy Walter), and a regular contributor to the PBS NewsHour, where she offers her perspective weekly on "Politics Monday."

Amy gave a detailed 40-minute presentation about the state of the upcoming presidential election based on polling and insights as of mid-July, 2020. Key takeaways centered around the strengths and weaknesses of the campaigns of both President Donald Trump and the presumptive Democratic nominee, former Vice President Joe Biden. She provided analysis on polling data related to leadership during crises, approval ratings, potential running mates, and social issues.

Wally Obermeyer, President and Co-Chairman of Obermeyer Wood, began the event by reminding attendees that our organization does not endorse nor support specific candidates. The event's goal was to educate and inform on what is sure to be an impactful election for our country. We want to thank Amy, and all of the attendees, for contributing to a constructive and insightful conversation.

To learn more about Amy’s presentation, please reach out to your relationship manager or contact our office.
