Obermeyer Wood named one of America’s Top RIA Firms by Forbes and SHOOK Research

Forbes and SHOOK Research recently unveiled the inaugural ranking of America’s Top RIA Firms, a new award that recognizes the top 100 Registered Investment Advisors in the United States. Obermeyer Wood was ranked #21 in the country and the only firm in Colorado to rank in the top 50.

The Forbes ranking of America’s Top RIA firms, developed by SHOOK Research, uses interviews and questionnaires to glean quantitative and qualitative data used to rank firms. RJ Shook, founder and president of SHOOK Research, said that the fiduciary aspect of RIAs, and their advisors’ intense focus on putting clients’ interests over their own, made meeting the firms represented on the list paramount.

“When we meet with these independent firms, we take a close look at leadership and the senior principals since they tend to dictate every client’s experience. When we meet with a firm or an advisor for a due diligence meeting, we are always thinking to ourselves, ‘Would we recommend this firm (or individual) to a friend or family member?’” Shook said. “Quality is always first; if we’re going to include a firm (or advisor) in our rankings, we have to make sure everyone is of the highest quality.”
